As a youth, I was taught that when washing my car, if the windows weren't impeccably cleaned, it detracted from the beauty of the car wash. The same applies to our turntables. The Turntable Display Case (Cover) can make or break the presentation of your turntable(s) in your system.
My friend George invited me over to see his custom fabricated display case for his Grand Prix Audio Monaco Turntable. I was more than "Impressed". The attention to detail, craftsmanship, and build quality was truly a "Work Of Art". In addition, it gave George's system an "Aesthetic Balance". He told me this was the work of John who runs a company called J- Display Case.
We work very hard to give customers the utmost in quality acrylic turntable covers at as low of a price as possible.
The three important things we combine are:
1) High quality fabrication
2) Low price for high quality
3) And, safe packaging.
1)We start with the finest material out there, “Acrylite” brand.
We make a five panel fabrication of 3/16” thick acrylite, which makes a turntable cover that is not to heavy, or toyish weak and light.
It a truly crystal clear acrylic material and fabricates like a dream.
So it makes a very luxurious looking cover and over the years as a turntable cover ages it stays looking great.
We not only quote the material brand on a customers quote, but put it in writing on the printed invoice sent with the completed turntable cover.
Beyond using fine quality materials, our fabrication procedures makes sure a cover is embedded together square, parallel and at a tight dimensional tolerance.
We are one of the only acrylic fabrication shops in the world that uses “tool ground” metal fabrication tables to do final assembly and bonding.
The exacting flatness of the tool ground metal tables allows us to make an exacting gap and embed joints together strong.
What this means to a customer is, the bonded joints of their cover will never come apart and will remain crystal clear for many life times.
Verses a common thin bond of acrylic on acrylic which makes a weak joint bond or a heat formed bent type case which is a cheap fast way to make an over priced cover.
Heat formed, bent type covers have distortion warping from the heat lines and mean other low quality type fabrication methods have been used.
We believe our 5 panel square parallel, embedded joint and cold micro grain polished turntable covers are the finest in the world.
Our high tech cold micro grain edge finishing procedure is one of a kind in the industry.
Most shops spend 1 minute flame polishing the acrylic edges of a cover, which makes the edges and bonds brittle and heat stress’s the cover.
We take the time to cold polish all the edges of a cover down to a twelve thousand grain finely polished clear and smooth edge finish.
This is important, it lets the bond cure out properly/strong because the material has not even the slightest heat stress put into it, it is also a fantastic looking edge finish.
2)We set our price structure to the low end of the profit margin scale for high quality, not the high end.
Many shops try to get the utmost profit for fast low quality work, which ruins the trade in what is basically a virgining market compared to other things that have been around for hundreds of years.
We are not a fly by night company: I personally started in aero space fabrication back in 1976 and have been running J-Display Case since 1998.
3)Packaging: We make our own shipping boxes of 350LB test double wall cardboard and reinforce the inner walls with cut panels of the same cardboard.
A finished cover is first detail cleaned and polished with brillianize. It’s a high tech acrylic only anti static polish.
We then bag in a virgin plastic bag, which is important to note because the common recycled type bags can a braise an acrylic surface slightly.
Then we over wrap the cover in bubble wrap and nestle the packaged turntable cover down into 3” of soft styro peanuts on all sides.
A professionally made beautiful turntable cover will arrive safe, un-damaged and ready to use.
We feel our only draw back is lead time, here is why:
We are a custom job shop, not a production shop.
As a custom job shop we build to dimensions our customers provide, hence we do not carry stock of any one size.As you can imagine high quality at a low prices means we are always loaded with work, but if you have the time it’s well worth the wait for the price.
