I would like to express how proud I am of my son Adam Miguest who ran in a countywide Water Reclamation race in the recent March 18th Primary. I also, want to personally thank anyone who may have cast a vote for him. He was one of three candidates on a slate called Leaders for Water Reclamation. His slate included incumbent Commissioner Cynthia Santos, who wasn't slated by the Democratic Party, Tom Courtney, and himself. This slate was going up against the Democratic Machines' slate of candidates which included incumbent Commissioner Frank Avila, Tim Bradford, and Josina Morita as well as 10 other candidates that were vying for three available seats for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District. Slated candidates pay X amount of dollars to the "Party" and receive all the benefits the Party will put out to the voting Pavlovian masses. My question to you is, are these necessarily the "BEST CANDIDATES" or ones with the financial wherewithal or ones where political favors must be satisfied? Tim Bradford, ostensibly, did nothing and won. At 23, my son was the youngest candidate in the race. If he had won, he would have made History. However, Commissioner Cynthia Santos, who was part of his slate did win one of the three seats and as a result, prevented all three of the slated Democratic candidates from winning the Primary. What does all of this have to do with High-End Audio? In my opinion, the majority of the voting masses are like Pavlov's dog. They have been trained to vote the ticket that the Status Quo has picked and in my opinion, do minimal, if any, due diligence with regard to the candidates. The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results and then complain. Music Lovers also have a Status Quo that tell them what equipment they should purchase if they want the "Best Sound". I am inclined to believe that manufacturers and most reviewers of High-End Audio share a relationship similar to the political arena. Reviewers pitch recommendations to music lovers, who like the majority of voters in this country, follow the designed program the Status Quo has inexorably ingrained in them. "Audition" components and trust your ears as opposed to individual reviews. Due Diligence expands the thought process and more often than not yields intelligent decisions. Intelligent decisions create "Change" with the masses in mind as opposed to the Status Quo. This is an "Ubiquitous Concept". Stand up and take control. Become the "RULE" not the "Exception". |
