The main turntable in my system is a Technics SL-1210 MK2 with all of the mods from KAB http://www.kabusa.com. In addition to the KAB mods, I use a Sumiko headshell, a Funk Achromat, SoundString cables, a VPI center weight, a Denon 103R cartridge which feeds an Allnic AUT 2000 Step Up Transformer. This informative site is the brain-child of a gentleman by the name of Mike Smith.

However, Matsushita-Panasonic-Technics discontinued the SL-1200 mk2 turntable at the end of 2011.
In November 2009 internet forums were buzzing with un-verified speculation that production of the SL-1200 series was about to be discontinued. Ceasing production of this very fine instrument was a great shock and very sad indeed. Buy Your New SL-1200 if You Still Can! In early 2010 it seemed that Technics were only dropping production of the SL-1200MK5 and SL-1210MK5 but continuing with the most popular SL-1200MK2 and SL-1210MK2 and the most expensive top of the range MK5G version - However by the end of 2011 all production had ceased at prices of those SL-1200's still available, unsurprisingly rocketed to over £800.00. Even though the main focus of this site has been discontinued, there is a wealth of valuable information with regard to turntables, vinyl, cartridges,a plethora of Links,...etc. I highly recommend giving this site a visit whether you are contemplating a turntable purchase for the first time or pondering an upgrade for an existing turntable.
